Make a Point - to place two checkers on the same point and by that create an anchor or a block

Match - a series of games played by two players until a predetermined number of points is scored (usually 3,5 or 7 points)

Match Equity – the player's chances of winning a match from a specific score

Match Play – the method of play used in backgammon tournaments and backgammon websites whereby the first player to reach a predetermined sum of points wins the match. See also Money Game

Midpoint – the player's 13-point or the opponent's 12-point

Money Game – a play method whereby each game is played individually and the players wager on the outcome of each game

Movement of Checkers/Move – the progression of the checkers according to the numbers shown on the thrown dice. Legal movements include:
Move Across – to move from one quadrant to another
Move Down – to move from the opponent's outer board to the player's outer board
Move In – from the player's bar point to the opponent's home board
Move Off – to bear off
Move Up – move forward inside the opponent's home board
