Play65 Raises Backgammon Champions
The online backgammon site Play65 raises the next generation of backgammon champions. The fruit of its labor has been revealed at the 19th City of Venice International Backgammon Tournament when the Double Davis European Championship was taken over by winners of Play65 online backgammon tournaments.
The online backgammon site Play65 had sent four of its most notable players to the 19th City of Venice International Backgammon Tournament, which took place on Nov. 29-Dec. 2. The four online backgammon players, who have won in Play65 special "Italy" satellite tourneys, had given a once in a lifetime opportunity to compete against the top players in the professional backgammon circle.
Two of Play65 backgammon participants in the 19th City of Venice International Backgammon Tournament, Italian Giuseppe Ricciardi and Michael Schmidt of Germany took the championship and the finalist titles (respectively) in the Double "Davis" European Championship as well as a large money prize.
The final event of the Double "Davis" European Championship, which similar to the Davis Cup in tennis, consisted of single matches, a consultation and two final single matches, featured two of Play65 backgammon team who competed against each other for the desirable title. Eventually, the Italians Giuseppe Ricciardi and Piero Gallo won the German couple of Mr. Schmidt and his partner Uli Koch and by that made the Italian nation and the international online backgammon community very proud.
