Raccoon – when a player redoubles right after accepting a beaver

Redouble
– any double except the initial double of the game

Re-enter – to enter a checker from the bar after being hit

Reference Position – a position in which its value and chances of winning are known and it serves as a key position according to which similar positions are measured

Refuse a Double – to decline a doubling offer and by that resign the game; the opposite of Accept a Double

Return Shot – an opportunity to hit immediately after being hit

Roll – the act of throwing a couple of dice and the outcome of the thrown dice

Runner - one of the two checkers that were placed on the player's 24-point at the start of the game; also refers to ay checker placed on the bar in the opponent's home board
